Concerned Abia Citizens Write EFCC, Ask The Agency To Speed Up Its Investigation On Ex Abia Governors
Some group of concerned citizens from Abia State has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to speed up its investigation against the two former governors of the State.
In a letter it sent to the EFCC through its Port Harcourt Zonal office and a press statement it sent to the media it said: “We, The concerned Abia Citizens, do express our collective dissatisfaction over the snail rate of the wheel of justice as carried by EFCC in the case of Orji Uzo Kalu and T.A. Orji over their loot of the coffers of Abia State. We can infer that Orji Uzo Kalu has just been released from prison albeit, temporarily. But our concern is that nothing virtually has been heard from EFCC over the recovery which rates in billions (N7.65 Billion).”
The statement signed by Kindness Jonah, David Kalu and Chuks Ibegbu it further said; T.A. Orji and his son Chinedu Orji, have also been perambulating the crannies of Abia State despite EFCCC’s touted arrest. But he and his sons are being charged for many multiple Billions of naira to the tune of N525 Billion . Who is to blame apart from EFCC? In Imo State, we hear of EFCC’s claim to have recovered N7.9 Billion from the previous Governor Rochas Okorocha and has remitted N2.7 Billion to the coffers of Imo State.”
Furthermore it said; “But Abia State’s recovery move by EFCC predates Imo’s. So, who is to blame aside EFCC? Besides , the resent romance by the two Orji’s after the release of Orji Uzo Kalu , averse to their earlier strained relationship is a signpost of a possible frustration of the wheel of justice dissipation in their prosecutions. Recall that T.A. Orji had visited Orji Uzo Kalu at Abuja immediately after his release , and Chinedu Orji appeared on papers in picture with Uzo Kalu.
In as much as peace is comely, Concerned Abia Citizens want to state that such a turnaround in the eye of the present EFCC’s questionable rhetoric’s in Abia State’s saga, leaves much to be desired. We, hereby , make passionate appeal to EFCC to do what is needed gravely : recover Abia Loot from T.A. Orji and his son as well as from Uzo Kalu and remit same to the coffers of Abia State.”
