Community Leader, 2 Women Killed In Hukke Bassa LGA

The resumed killings of natives of Irigwe speaking people of Plateau state in Bassa Local Government Council just three days after a peace dialogue between the herders and natives had attracted wider condemnation.

 

The Director of Peace Joseph Lengman on Saturday organized some selected media houses to Miango to seek for peaceful coexistence to prevent incessant killings which is unprovoked.

 

This medium gathered that they have turned the residents of the Irigwe in perpetual fear of the unknown enemies who always sneaks in during the night to commit this dastardly act of genocide.

 

Its wasn’t a fresh attack or murder but the dreaded weakened suspected herdsmen arrived Hukke village of Miango District in Bassa LG where 3 persons namely Ladi Wuh 45 years, Laraba Audu 36 years , and a community leader, Musa Yevuh 40 years were hacked to death .

 

Meanwhile, Senator Istifanus Gyang has condemned the killings describing it as unwarranted where innocent people sneak into the night to commit this dastardly act of genocide.

 

He commended the action of the Maingo Youth for continuing to maintain peaceful coexistence and law abiding despite the incessant attack to disrupt the peace.

 

Gyang enjoyed the youth to remain committed by calling on the Security agencies to be more proactive in protecting lives & Properties of law abiding citizens including rural communities which are vulnerable in this isolated attacks.

 

Hon. Musa Ashoms, SA Media and Protocol, to Senator I.D. Gyang, stated that the Senator  condemned this evil act and all forms of criminality and calls on all peace loving people of Plateau North to stand against evil and expose criminals whose stock in trade is violence and bloodshed.

 

The killings occurred at about 8:15am according to the Spokesperson of the Miango Youth Development Association, Mr. Lawrence Zongo.

 

The persons killed were two women and a community Leader.

 

He said the attack came as a surprise to them coming after they agreed to accept peace process initiated by the Plateau State Peace Building Agency last Saturday.

 

He gave the names of the deceased as; Mrs Ladi Wuh 45 years, Mrs Laraba Audu 36 years old deaf, Elder Musa Yevuh 40 years community leader of Hukke.

 

He said the suspected Fulani herdsmen who attacked and killed the 3 Persons are from Funture village of Bassa LGA.

 

Mr. Lawrence Zongo said as a people, they will continue to be peaceful & law abiding but was quick to say government should be more responsible in protecting live & Property of the people especially those in rural communities who he said are more vulnerable.
