Clarify Your Grazing Reserves And Ranch Policy, Hon. Beni Lar Tells Federal Government

Member representing Langtang North and South in the House of representative ,Hon. Beni Daushep Lar has stressed the need for Federal Government to come  out with clearly defined policy on grazing reserves and ranches. Lar stated this in an exclusive interview with journalists at her residence in Jos.

She said the stakeholders meeting held recently in Langtang North LGA with the Tarok nation did not agree in its totality on grazing reserve but applauded the ranches policy.

According to her, the Tarok speaking natives have declined the idea of grazing reserve, stating that it was not clearly defined to the people so they are asking for more clarification.

Lar maintained that resolution came out with two opposition views which are needed to look carefully but some opted for ranches.

She noted that; “if my people have accepted this view we will name specific area to be used for ranches.

Hon. Lar cautioned that there are different types of ranches, the rotational ranches which members of the community can acquire and reserve for specific period of years.

The method is very important as ranches all over the world is the practice which personal buy the land and turn it into grazing reserve to discourage the movement of cattle from one place to avoid unnecessary crisis .

Pointing out that the stakeholders meeting listed out some critical areas and called on government to show the type of ranches policy they want to start.

The Tarok Native said they need a lot of clarification of who is going to buy the land so more consultation needs to be done before adopting the policy, he explained.

Hon Beni Lar has described People Democratic Party (PDP) as one of the greatest party in Africa, stressing that what is happening within the party now is the issue of post elections interest where so many group are eyeing seats.

She commended Sen Ahmed Makarfi led caretaker committee which is going round trying to reconcile a lot of people who are having opposing views.

Hon Lar solicited the cooperation of executive arms of government to dialogue with the National Assembly for the progress of Nigeria.

She urged the executive to extend its hand of fellowship to legislative arm and work together as a team to prevent area of conflict of interest.

” We want to see peace in Plateau , North Central and Nigeria because we have Fulani Beroms and Taroks, so we are appealing to federal government to carry out Green Great World Initiative of the PDP led government by transforming the country through agriculture.

She reminded that PDP built more irrigation land than any other government, so I am calling on the present the government to emulate the same gesture.

However ,His Royal Highness the Ponzhi Zini Nimnan Langnim appealed to federal government to clarify more on the policy of grazing reserves and Ranches to avoid crisis of interest.

He said the Tarok nations are very careful while brainstorming on the two issues but ask for more details.
