In a remarkable gesture of goodwill, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the early payment of salaries and pensions to all civil servants and pensioners on the state government’s payroll.

The payments, made on Friday, December 13, 2024, reflect the Governor’s commitment to ensuring financial ease for residents during the festive season.

Under the leadership of Governor Zulum, Borno State was among the first to implement the N70,000 minimum wage, a landmark policy benefiting the state’s workforce.

The Governor’s directive for early disbursement this December aligns with his dedication to fostering inclusivity and enabling all residents to prepare for and celebrate the yuletide season without financial hindrance.

In a statement signed by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, “Governor Zulum directed as usual that no affected Christians, Muslims and others should while away their time without feeling a sense of belonging during and after the yuletide, considering the multi -inclusivity and socio- cultural togetherness that exists between the peaceful people of Borno, especially at this period.

“His Excellency, Professor Babagana Zulum has done it again, as 2024 December credit alerts for salaries and pensions have started hitting accounts of beneficiaries to ensure Christians and other faithful prepare for a better yuletide on time”.

The statement also highlighted Governor Zulum’s consistent track record of timely payments, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring the welfare of civil servants and pensioners.

During the presentation of the 2025 budget at the State Assembly, Governor Zulum reiterated his administration’s focus on improving workers’ welfare.

This includes the upgrade and integration of the state’s salary payment system, implementation of the new N72,000 minimum wage, and the resolution of outstanding gratuities for deceased workers.

The Governor further appealed to residents to continue praying for peace in Borno State and the nation at large, while acknowledging the positive impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on the lives of Borno’s citizens and beyond.
