Christian Killings In Nigeria Give Me Sleepless Night — US Lawmaker

A member of the United States Congress, Riley Moore, has expressed deep concern over the persistent attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria, saying the escalating violence has become a burden heavy enough to rob him of sleep.

Moore spoke on Thursday during a congressional hearing on Nigeria’s redesignation as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), a process initiated following former President Donald Trump’s decision to reinstate the classification over alleged religious persecution.

His remarks came amid rising insecurity across the country, including Tuesday’s attack on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) assembly in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, where three worshippers were killed and several persons, including the pastor, abducted.

The lawmaker said the recurring incidents weigh heavily on his mind.

“I find it hard to sleep at night; I pray every single night about the killing of Christians in Nigeria,” he said.

“Every night, I’m thinking about my brothers and sisters in Christ in that country who are being murdered simply for professing their faith. It is absolutely heartbreaking.”

Moore urged stronger international engagement to ensure that vulnerable communities in Nigeria receive necessary protection and justice as attacks continue to draw global attention.
