Former Super Eagles chief coach, Christian Chukwu, is down with an undisclosed ailment and consequently needs the sum of $50,000 to be flown abroad for medical treatment.
Chukwu’s predicament became public following an appeal by the United States based patron of the ex-Enugu Rangers Players Association, Benson Ejindu on his facebook page.
According to Ejindu, a total of $2,450 has been raised for the ex-Green Eagles captain through an account opened for him.
“I am asking you to join me, this time around, in raising funds for Chairman Chukwu, who is currently in Nigeria receiving treatments for various ailments.”
“Your financial support will help fly him to the United States for better treatment.”
“We are hoping to raise about $50,000 to cover Christian Chukwu’s round trip flight from Nigeria and all the medical expenses. Leftover funds will help set up a health and welfare account for all Ex Rangers.”
Chukwu who played as a defender captained Nigeria to its first ever Africa Cup of Nations title on home soil in 1980. He also coached Nigeria at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia where they placed third.
