Bureau For Information And Communication Technology, Flags- Off Training Of 270 Nasarawa Workers

The Director-General Bureau for Information, Communication, Technology, Shehu Ibrahim has said that the Bureau is embarking on a Free Microsoft certification training for 270 Nasarawa state workers that would produce Master trainers to step down the training for workers in the state.

The Director disclosed this at the flag-off of the programme in Lafia said Nasarawa state is on the verge of being the third state in the country to work up an ICT master plan for the State in conjunction with the National Information Technology Development Agency.

Shehu Ibrahim further explained that since the coming on board of Governor Abdullahi Sule, the provision of digital skills has been the main focus of the state’s ICT programme, where a citizen would be well equipped to handle the everyday technology that shapes the 21st century.

He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his support and ever readiness to ensure that ICT becomes a key driver of the state economy

In” his overwhelming support has enabled many epic events to happen in the  ICT sector, notable amongst them is the creation and use of of the CBT centres and our epic partnership with the joint Admission and Matriculation Board.

Pointing out that the state has become an enrollment partner with National Identify Management Commission and their earlier partnership with the technology for social change and development initiative.

He says ICT would never be over-emphasized especially on basic digital literacy for rural clusters in Northern Nigeria where over 150 persons were trained and the first-ever retraining of data processing office where 304 persons were trained.

He said the flag-off of the training is in continuation of that goal, and provision of digital skills to workers, which would surely make them better equipped to perform well in their offices and provide them with much-needed skills to make them more productive hereafter.

Shehu further stated that the emerging markets model initiative is a Private- Public- nonprofit Partnership necessary to build the capacity of key Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies meant to offer sustainable, scalable reskilling and employment services aligned to the local labour markets.

While commending the implementer of the training, the technology for social change and development initiative ( Tech,4 Dev) for their commitments to creating access to decent work, entrepreneurship opportunities, and platforms for Africans through digital skills empowerment and advocacy and urged them to always consider Nasarawa state a willing partner in progress,

“We are honored to collaborate with you,”. He, therefore, congratulated the participants for being nominated by their ministries and Agencies to be part of the programme and urged them to be attentive and ready to learn during the 12 weeks of training.
