The Youth Wing of Southern Kaduna Youth Peoples Union (SOKAPU), today Issued a serious warning to Kaduna state governor Mallam Nasir El-rufai to rethink the plan demolition of Gbagyi Villa, a community with over 4,000 structures in Kaduna metropolis. The socio-political group, has on Saturday, dared the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai to embark on the planned demolition as threatened by him on Thursday when he paid a surprise visit to the area.
As gathered by medium, the youths who were viciously angry condemned the planned action, wondering why the governor was desperate to demolish an entire community while the case was still pending in a court of competent jurisdiction.
The SOKAPU National Youth Co-ordinator, Comrade Nasiru Jagaba while speaking at the stakeholders meeting organized by the group on Saturday in Kaduna, said that it is obvious the governor wants blood, as he’s so desperate to go ahead with the demolition plan, advising that if even one building is touched the situation could get ugly.
His comment was greeted with cheers from the other youths who in their support for the speaker, almost made the meeting rowdy.
Another speaker was of the view that the governor would have been patient for the court to decide on the matter before making fresh comments about demolition, adding that if he takes any action now, it would amount to contempt of court.
While commenting, a youth who is not an indigene of Kaduna State but was present at the meeting said that is advise for the governor was to give peace a chance, saying the governor’s action might degenerate into unpalatable consequences that may affect the peaceful co-existence currently being enjoyed.
“I pray this issue can be addressed peacefully because we love our state to be peaceful so we can go about our duties without fear. If anything happens, it would take us years back from the gains we have made at ensuring peace,” he added.
