Nigeria has recorded its first death from coronavirus as former managing director of the Pipeline and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) Suleiman Achimugu, died overnight from coronavirus. He is the first casualty in Nigeria.
According to an update from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), it said; “The 1st #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded.
The case was a 67 year old male who returned home following medical treatment in UK.”
NCDC said; “He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes & was undergoing chemotherapy.
The victim, Suleiman Achumugu, died at 2am on Monday.
The victim started exhibiting the symptoms of the virus on Tuesday and the case was reported to the NCDC who took his blood specimen for a test.
He tested positive and was evacuated to the specialist hospital, Gwagwalada in Abuja but died while receiving treatment.
According to a source, his family members are reportedly under quarantine at their home.
