There has been report of sporadic gunshots this evening from the Alidawari village close to Molai area of Maiduguri the Borno State capital from suspected members of the Boko Haram sect, witnesses from the area told Daily Correspondents.
An eyewitness from the area, Ba Modu said several people from the Jiddari polo area of Maiduguri are right now fleeing their homes to areas considered safe within the state capital.
“Our area is not safe. Right now as I am talking to you we are hearing gunshots coming from Molai and people are fleeing their houses in droves into the city,” he said.
There is no immediate response from the military as at the time of going to press, but another eyewitness who goes by the name Hassan Alkali told Daily Correspondents on phone that the military and members of the Civilian JTF are right now mobilizing to the area, drawing cheers from people of the area.
Meanwhile in another report, Daily Trust is reporting that Boko Haram terrorists have opened fire on motorists queuing for fuel at a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation filling station in the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno state capital.
Thought detail is still scanty as the attack just took place now, Daily Trust can report that the assailants arrived the filling on Molai road in vehicles.
