The Ekiti State All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial primary has been suspended indefinitely after voting was initially stalled due to outbreak of violence among the aspirants, according to news monitored on TVC News Television.
It would be recalled that the voting, which commenced peacefully was later disrupted by heavy rainfall before the process recommenced under the leadership of Organising Committee Chairman, Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State.
The voting was however stopped midway with so many delegates yet to cast their votes after some thugs were alleged to have gained access into the Kayode Fayemi Township Stadium, venue of the primary.
Unconfirmed reports also alleged that about 32 of the 33 aspirants forcefully insisted that the voting must stop because they had information that the process had been rigged to favour Dr Fayemi, also an aspirant.
After over an hour of heated meeting between all the aspirants and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Governor Al-Makura, the Nasarawa State Governor announced the decision to suspend process indefinitely.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed July 14 as the date for the Ekiti State gubernatorial election.
