The court of appeal sitting in Abuja has nullified elections in all 31 Local Government Areas in Akwa State.
The judgment is in regards to the petition filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the governorship election of the state.
The Court had in an earlier judgment delivered in the petition filed by the governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel ordered that fresh election be conducted in 18 out of the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom state.
But when the judgment in the petition by the APC candidate was read, the entire election was nullified and a fresh election ordered within 90 days.
Both Udom Emmanuel, the governor and Umana Okon Umana, the APC candidate had filed an appeal challenging the decision of the Tribunal cancelling election in 18 out of the 31 LGAs.
While Umana asked that the entire election be nullified, Governor Emmanuel asked that the nullification of election in the 18 LGAs be reversed.
