Just one week when a suicide bomber killed many people during a Shiites procession in Potiskum, another bomb blast has occurred in Potiskum Yobe state.
According to a witness, the suicide bomber detonated his explosives during the weekly Assembly of the Government Science School Potiskum killing over 35 people, and injured many.
The witness while speaking to journalists on phone, said, “It is another bad day for us today, a bomb just went off at Senior Science Secondary school Potiskum….it happened at the assembly ground.
“Many bodies of students are presently on the ground in pools of blood… We are running home now.”
Meanwhile, Police Spokesperson Emmanuel Ojukwu told AFP that; “We have 47 dead and 79 injured.”
A resident Adamu said was a mass of abandoned footwear and blood.
“The students had gathered for the morning assembly when something exploded in their midst with a thunderous sound at exactly 7:50 am [06:50 GMT],” a sobbing teacher is quoted by AFP as saying.
Victims were being rushed to a nearby hospital, said the teacher, who asked not to be identified.
A witness told the BBC he saw parents wailing at the sight of their children’s bodies at the hospital.
