Youths in Tafawa-balewa and Bogoro LGA’s of Bauchi state has staged a protest over the illegal appointment of district heads and village hamlets in the area.

This was just as they urged Bauchi Emirate council to toe the path of honour to immediately rescind the appointment of any traditional ruler especially in Tafawa-Balewa and Bogoro dominated by the Sayawa to give peace a chance.

Deputy president of Zaar Youths Development Association (ZAYODA) Comrade Godiya Haruna  made the stern warning while briefing newsmen in Tafawa-Balewa, in his statement he said, already former governor Yuguda had stopped Bauchi  emirate from such appointment until when Sayawa chiefdom is finally actualize.

Haruna reiterate that FG should caution Bauchi emirate to handle the issue of traditional rulers in Tafawa-balewa   and Bogoro with justice and care since it’s not under his jurisdiction.

“We believe that the current move by Bauchi emirate to have appointed district heads and hamlets in Baram/Tadnum, Boi and Ginzim is an attempt for disservice to the nation and a calculated effort to restore crisis which is not in our best interest on the need to leave in peace” said Godiya.

It could be recalled thousands of innocent people were brutally killed in the areas in series of times as a result of chiefdom which prompted FG through Babalakin commission in 1992 to direct Bauchi state to actualize a separate chiefdom for sayawa, yet to no avail.

The youth group also called on governor Abubakar to call Bauchi Emirate to order in its alleged desperation to further cause fresh crisis in the area which has since enjoyed relative peace.

The youths noted that their decision to protest followed the sordid action of  Bauchi emirate  to have  appointed  district and hamlets against people wish  and intended to tarnish  the integrity of Sayawa traditional institution as created by former governor Yuguda.

“It is our desire that the Emir of Bauchi  Alhaji Dr. Rilwanu Sullaiman Adamu should emulate his eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa,ad Abubakar  as a bridge builder in cultivating peace and unity among different religious and tribal groups,  as it is now the emirate may be pushing for a fresh chaos and we are not interested” fumed Haruma.

There is no way according to the group peace can be achieve where there is disunity and disregard of   stakeholders responsible to attract unity especially  among the  existing religious groups in the areas.

In the same vein, the emirate should have taken a cue from Kaduna state to learn from their wise decision to appoint chiefdom to various ethnic groups apparently to ensure peace which is not different from ours, yet it is as if few people are beneficiaries of Tafawa-Balewa crises.

It is with utter dismay to note that more than eighty village hamlets including district heads that died several years in Tafawa-Balewa and Bogoro LGAs are yet to be appointed even before the creation of Sayawa chiefdom and this call for second thought, yet dominant Sawaya people are being accused and threaten without reason.

” We are tired of playing politics with the issue of Sayawa chiefdom, Bauchi emirate should kindly look for a way of dialogue to resolve this matter once and for all and should desist from appointing village hamlets and district heads without consultation to enhance peace and unity” said Haruna.

We therefore urged our people to remain law abiding and not to take laws into their hands and to embrace agents of peace in the area.
