Bauchi State University Sole Administrator Employs Kinsmen Despite Embargo

The Sole Administrator of the Bauchi State University, Gadau, Dr. Mu’azu Musa Badara may have taken power into his hands by employing his kingsmen and family members into the service of the University, even when there is an embargo on employment in the State which has not been lifted. A situation that tantamount to outlawing the state government.

Even as that, if there is a lift on the embargo the employment of workers should be from all the 20 Local Government Areas in the State, this is so because  given the source of funding,  it follows therefore that, when employing workers, the vacancies should be shared among all the 20 LGAs.

It would be recalled that sources of funding of the university was established by an Act of Bauchi State House of Assembly under the Yuguda administration, and the source of funding for the university is as follows; 5% from each of the 20 LGAs of the state, while 2% also comes from the state government.

However, in a questioning manner 95% of persons employed as seen in the memo by this medium came from one to three Local Government Areas, aside that all the LGAs are in one Senatorial zone – Bauchi South Senatorial Zone.

Moreso, one wrong move on the appointment of Dr. Badara as Administrator is that, there is already a Governing Council in place. The university has a governing council, therefor appointing him as sole administrator is duplication of sorts. Badara’s doctorate degree itself is said to be questionable. In a statement issued newsmen earlier today in Bauchi, a group, Concerned Citizens of Bauchi alleged that Badara did not complete his doctorate degree which he started in Bayero University Kano. The group further said that it has since written a formal complaint to the ICPC.

It would be recalled that the Sole Administrator was appointed on February 1, 2017 by Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government Bello Shehu Ilelah.
