Bauchi State Government Boosts Technical Education For Social Development

The Bauchi state government approved the sum of N164 million for the procurement of machines, tools and other technical equipment to support technical and vocational education in the state.
The State Deputy Governor, Sagir Aminu Saleh said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between technical colleges and private companies with a view to improving skills development in technical education system.
Alhaji Aminu Sagir Saleh was speaking Tuesday while receiving Task Force Team Leader of the State Education Programme and Investment Project (World Bank Assisted), Dr. Tunji Adekola during a courtesy visit at the Government House, Bauchi.
According to him, attainment of disbursement linked indicators ranging from deployment of teachers to rural schools in core subjects has significantly improved teacher availability and efficiency in the rural areas.
He explained that the project has so far deployed 3, 161 teachers including 765 core subject teachers in order to address shortage of in the rural areas of the state.
The deputy governor stated that the project has also conducted a pilot testing learning level in primary 5 in English and Mathematic subjects.
The State Education Programe Investment Project Team Leader, Dr. Tunji Adekola had earlier said that his visit to Bauchi is part of the World Bank efforts to support the state.
Adekola recalled that the state government had in 2013 entered into partnership with the World Bank in the area of education, saying out of the 3 states in the country that signed the agreement, Bauchi has demonstrated commitment in terms of project execution.

Dr. Tunji Adekola who expressed delight that 20% of the fund on the project which has reached 50% has already been released, said he has seen commitment on the part of the government, and assured that World Bank will continue with the project to support the state.
