Ostensibly to emasculate and scuttle the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Yakubu Dogara, Bauchi Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, universalreporters247.com has learnt, took some measures to put the visit of the Speaker into disrepute. However, all his efforts failed to yield any result.

Findings by this medium indicate that one of the measures taken by the Governor was to use the Bauchi Police Command. However according to a close source, his inordinate desire failed as the Command under the headship of the Commissioner of Police Mr. Garba Baba Umar rebuffed the Governor’s request.

As gathered, Governor Mohammed Abubakar had invited the Police Commissioner to the Government House prior to Dogara’s visit, an invitation which the Commissioner honoured, but refused to accede to the Governor’s request.

Universal Reporters learnt that on getting to the Government House, the Police Commissioner was told by the Governor at the meeting that he should not provide security for Dogara’s visit, an offer the Police Commissioner vehemently rejected.

The Governor had told the Commissioner that he is the Chief Security officer of the State, and that the Commissioner should take orders from him.

However, according to the source the Police Commissioner told him that he cannot oblige to his request, because his job was to protect the lives and property of the people of the State irrespective of affiliations of any kind, even up to the least person in the State.

A visibly angered Mohammed Abubakar, began to abuse the Commissioner of Police, and in order not to allow tempers to begin flaring, the Police Commissioner walked out of the meeting and left the Government House.

Another hatchet job by the Governor against the Speaker’s visit was the alleged ordering of Emirs in the State not to receive the Speaker should he come for a courtesy visit to their respective palaces. The Governor, Universalreporters247.com learnt did not only say it, but he threatened that he will depose any Emir that flaunts his order.

On the day the Speaker visited, Universal Reporters learnt that the Emirs obeyed the Governor as they went AWOL, deserting their palaces, and as the Speaker got nod of this, didn’t go for any courtesy visit so as not to be shunned.

Universal Reporters finding indicates that allegedly, the Emirs that were not in their palaces, are that of the Bauchi, Ningi and Misau.

However, the actions of the monarchs didn’t make any impact on Speaker’s visit, as right from the Plateau and Bauchi boundary there was a mammoth crowd of Bauchi people who came out enmass to welcome the Speaker. Not only that, even inside Bauchi metropolis and its environs the mammoth crowd was unprecedented.

A Bauchi citizen who pleaded anonymity, who spoke to Universal Reporters has this to say, “let me tell you, this visit is remarkable in many ways, especially with the things the Speaker has done during this visit, and politically also, if Dogara who is from a minority Sayawa tribe and Christian by faith in a Muslim dominated State can command such an unprecedented crowd, it goes to show that the people of the State have really undermined the political dispiritedness and apathy of Governor Mohammed Abubakar a ‘Hausa man’ and a Muslim.”

“I can tell you ahead of 2019, this spells doom for Governor Abubakar’s political ambition,” he said.

Another person who spoke to this medium, who also pleaded anonymity, said, “With this Dogara’s outing here and with this gargantuan and huge gathering, indeed Dogara has become the slaughter of House of Governor Abubakar’s 2019 Governorship ambition, I can tell you that this is why whenever Dogara sneezes, cold catches Governor Abubakar, as it is now any mention of the name Dogara before Governor Abubakar will always make him to shiver,  especially with this recent visit and its outcome” he said.

“You can see, there were no booing, no stoning, no pelting of any kind, everything went on peacefully.”

Meanwhile, Dogara during the visit flagged off construction of four roads in Bauchi State.

The flagging off ceremony took place at Dass local government area, and was witnessed by over 162 members of the House of Representatives  and the Senate, officials of the ministry of Power, Works and Housing, whose minister was represented by Mr Mohammed Rufai and thousands of the Speaker’s constituents and well-wishers.

He also visited the ATBU Teaching Hospital  where he paid medical bills of patients running into millions.
