The Bauchi State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has promised to comply with the directive of NLC and the Trade Union Congress to begin an indefinite nationwide strike on Monday.
Mr Ibrahim Maikudi, Acting Chairman NLC Bauchi Chapter started this at the end of their meeting on Saturday in Bauchi.
He said the national NLC and TUC decided to declare the nationwide strike on Friday following the Federal Government’s failure to conclude and pass into law a new National Minimum Wage Act and reverse the hike in electricity tariff to N65/kwh.
Maikudi said that is why we call for a state emergency meeting so that we can make decisions and do the necessary things so that we will not be at fault.
“We will join the strike. By Sunday midnight, we will start mobilisation and join others and we will communicate with them effectively before Monday.
“The offices are not open on weekends and we will not go beyond the law. The arrangement came suddenly. We will follow the due process and serve them”,He said
Maikudi said the chapter would join without hesitation and press home for our demands and that of the citizens.
