Bauchi State has again stated that it has unearthed another 19,241 ghost workers barely one week when it stated that 5000 ghost workers were uncovered following the on-going civil service verification initiated by Abubakar administration.

The Government also stated that it has saved about N797, 465,000 from the discovery of the ghost workers.

This was contained in a press statement signed Yakubu Ibn Mohammed, Special Adviser Media and Communication to Governor Abubakar of Bauchi state.

The statement added that the figures were released in collaboration with the office of the state accountant general.

According to Mohammed, it is expected that at the end of the verification exercise government will save close to one billion naira monthly in 20 LGA’s and under LGEA.

“In the face of dwindling resources and in keeping with its resolve to ensure probity, accountability and prudence in governance and management of scarce resources the Bauchi state government has embarked on verification exercise to ascertain the strength of its actual workforce and pensioners involving workers in the main civil service and local governments” the state added.

It could be recalled Governor Abubakar had promise to trace all funds allegedly siphoned from the state coffers in its renewed commitment to tackle corruption for improved economic development.
