The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Plateau State Chapter ,Hon.Rufus Bature has welcomed Barr .Gyang Zi, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) of the Labour Party,(LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Northern Senatorial District supporters as they decamped to join them.
Barr.Gyang Zi, who defected to the APC on Tuesday,22nd April,2025, after contesting for the seat of Plateau Northern Senatorial District in 2023 and scored the 2nd highest votes cast as the candidate in the 2023 election.
Gyang Zi pulled a mammoth crowd of Labour Party, LP, and PDP supporters to the APC secretariat to announce his intention to dump the LP and join the APC government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“You would recall that,Gyang Zi, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), was one of the PDP legal team in Plateau State but expressed dissatisfaction with the treatment meted out to him that pushed him to contest under the platform of the Labour Party.
” Zi was accompanied by his loyal supporters, including those who contested the State Assembly, Chairmanships, councillorships, and ward chairmen, and the six local governments that Plateau North represented at the APC secretariat.
The State Chairman ,Hon.Rufus Bature ,the North-Central zonal Chairman, State PRO ,Shittu Bamaiyi,State Youth leader,Hon.Nanloh Dashe , the organizing Secretary, Hon.Philip Adik Asantu ,Hon.Alis Demlong , State woman leader, where joined to welcome the decampees.
Barr.Gyang stressed that he is back home to promote the APC to an enviable high, knowing policy of Mr President on tax reform, subsidy removal, and other transformations he is embarking on to better the lives of Nigerians.
However, some of Gyang Zi ardent supporters from the United Kingdom were on the ground to drum up their unalloyed to the movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to them, Zi was not treated well in PDP, which led to his defection to APC, and we saw it necessary to ask him to move to APC because he doesn’t have a political godfather, so the APC promised to provide the same platform.
He noted that coming to join the APC government, I want to ensure you all that the party would deliver and grow in the northern geopolitical zone of Plateau, and Mr President shall clinch the seat with la andslide victory in the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria.
“I know that I have the sole responsibility of joining and growing the party by working hard to support the APC government although we have challenges of insecurity and dwindling economic issues on ground but the coming of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,I can assure you that barely two to three months that he took over the mantle of leadership, we are going somewhere because this suffering will soon be over as the country is progressing.
” My decision to join the APC family was to bring my wealth of experience to effect change. I’m a very loyal person all my life because of the training I went through that helped to mould me, so I put it on the ground to build up the unity and oneness required, he added.
He said he early advised the PDP to do the right thing or else they would face removal, but they refused to listen to my advice and today they’re suffering the consequences of no structure.
The Chairman of APC , Hon. Rufus Bature welcomed Mr Gyang Zi with his supporters and assured him of equal playing ground of enjoying all the privileges that other members have enjoying will be giving to him.
He stated that it took him time to lobby the SAN and his Northern supporters to join the APC family because he (Gyang Zi) is a great politician of high reputation who had grown up to the peak of his career.
Mr President will be willing to work with you at the red chamber, where Nigerians are going to benefit and the country at Large.
He explained further that Nigeria is heading towards greatness under the leadership of President Ahmed Tinubu ,we can overcome all these through dialogue.
According to him,the APC will win in Plateau with the caliber of people like Gyang Zi the Plateau North will deliver successfully to APC, and the high point of the occasion was the official handing over of the APC flag to Gyang Zi .
