Baba-Hassan Condemns Suspension Of 17 LGAs, Says It’s As Political Suicide

Yakubu Busari

A former Deputy Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon Ibrahim Baba-Hassan has described as a political suicide the illegal sacking of the Executive Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Councils by the 9th Assembly Members led by fictional speaker Rt.Hon.Ayuba Nuhu Abok, as he also condemned it calling it undemocratic.

Speaking to Journalists at the Jos North LGA , Baba-Hassan says,” There is no law in our constitution that gave room to the state assembly to suspend an executive chairman of LGA whatsoever without the due process of court pronouncement.

Actually, I wrote a letter to all the Chairmen as the House Committee Chairman of Local Government affairs to investigate and verify the account of all the 17 LGAs for them to submit their documents based on the constitutional provision enshrined to the assembly but whatever political script into governance and is gradually altering the motive “, he said.

According to him, in case the 17 LGAs chairmen committed fraud or were found wanting then what happens to the councilors now you stop political structures in the entire state that is very wrong and I am calling on my colleagues to stop what would inflict pain and conflict to the citizens.

He admitted that there are internal leadership crises presently bedeviling the assembly but we shouldn’t allow that to create unnecessary tension and upheaval because I took a stand not to commence on the present administration.

Baba-Hassan appealed to the state assembly members not to venture into governance because we are not contesting with the position of the Executive Governor Caleb Mutfwang how he needs the support all sundry whether he rigged or through whatever meant that brought him to the office that came from God because he gives power to whoever he chose.

He explained further that PDP has failed to understand one thing,” if you look at the entire state the whole appointment is too small to accommodate those that contributed emergence of Mutfwang that’s why they’re scrabbling to mess up with the political structures.

He advised Barr. Mutfwang not to allow the politician to mess him up because as a legal luminary that has practiced for 30 years, we admonished that no legislature has the right to challenge precarious issues lingering in the state.

Baba-Hassan charged the governor to reverse and swallow his suspension because if you’re accusing the chairmen of misappropriation then what is the faith of all the councilors so what’s going on plateau state political suicide?
