Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, has said that a former leader of militant group, Asari Dokubo should be made to face treasonable trial for threatening war if President Goodluck Jonathan is not voted back into office in 2015
He told the army chief who paid him a courtesy call that security agents should have arrested Asari Dokunbo for treason when he made that statement.
The Governor, who also  received the member of House of Representatives,  also said that the Lawmakers should have invited Asari-Dokubo to the House to find out what he meant by that statement.
“When somebody will stand nationally and say if you don’t elect that person there will be war, I have never heard of that before”, Aliyu said and added that “the security agencies should have arrested the man because that is what we call treasonable felony. Who are you threatening? People don’t win election by threats”.

Aliyu, who is also the Chairman of the Northern States Governor Forum (NSGF) said, “This is part of the responsibility of the legislature; you have the right to invite any person to come and explain to you what he has said on a national matter”.
“That is why I want to raise this particular issue with our security agencies. In most developed countries, respect is accorded security agents. You cannot raise a gun on a policeman in USA not to talk of killing him, but here you find out that because of the system that is not good even soldiers are affected”, Aliyu added.
Investigate Kuku’s, Dokubo’s Threat, Reps Urge IGP
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives, yesterday, urged the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, to investigate comments credited to the presidential adviser on Niger-Delta Amnesty Programme, Mr Kingsley Kuku, Asari Dokubo, that there will be trouble if President Jonathan was not reelected in 2015.
The lawmakers argued that the probe was relevant as the statements were capable of inciting disaffection among Nigerians.
Kuku was reported to have said in United States that there would be chaos in the country if Jonathan was not re-elected in 2015, while Dokubo said at the weekend, that Nigeria would know no peace if Jonathan was not re-elected for second term.
