On the second day of the Arba’een symbolic trek from Kaduna axis, the trek diverted to avoid the Jaji Military Cantonment, following security report of planned attack on the mass trek.
In his address during a brief stop-over at , Ameer of Kaduna Malam Mukhtar Sahabi said, the diversion was as a result of a security report that security operatives had planned massacre on the mass trek as it reaches the Jaji Military Cantonment.
He recalled the security report by His Eminence Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky that a certain man popularly called “Chief” was used as a front, who stockpiled arms in a particular shop meant to be used on the trekkers.
He further explained how before the trek some military generals were seen surveying the route of the trek and exhibiting suspicious activities.
Malam Mukhtar Sahabi also said, there was another security report that some soldiers were lying down under a bridge, with sole intent of laying ambush on the trekkers.
Two days to the beginning of the trek, he further stated, a trailer carrying soft drinks had an accident close to the Jaji Military Cantonment, and that when there was an attempt to haul the vehicle away from the scene the soldiers insisted that the vehicle remain at the spot.
He said, the insistence on the vehicle to remain on the spot was a plan to use the vehicle as a cover or launching pad to launch attack on the mass trek.
He therefore called on the people to be steadfast and intensify prayers.
