APWEN Harps On Acculturation Of STEM Subjects In Schools

  • Foots Exam Bills Of Indigent Students

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Osogbo chapter has harped on the need for acculturation of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects in schools to propel students to develop interest in sciences.

 

The Chairman of APWEN, Osogbo chapter, Engr (Mrs) Olufela Adeola Adeniyi said this will encourage students to choose a carrier in engineering.

 

Engr. Olufela-Adeniyi said this during the presentation of learning materials to students of Adventist Grammar School, Ede in Osun State

 

APWEN also footed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) bill for some brilliant indigent female students in the school.

 

Engr. Olufela-Adeniyi highlighted the nature and scope of the work done by engineers and educate the students on how to become engineers in future.

 

She promised that APWEN would keep monitoring and mentor the students as they progress in life in accordance with the agenda of the President of the association, Engr (Mrs) Funmilola Ojelade.

 

Engr. Olufela-Adeniyi said the objective was to encourage and motivate the female students to stay focused and put more interest and excel in their studies.

 

One of the APWEN members, Engr (Dr) Jimoh Monsurat Omolola charged female students not to allow any barrier to hinder them from going into engineering, saying no gender berrier in the profession.

 

The beneficiaries, their teachers and parents expressed gratitude to the women in engineering for their intervention.
