APM drags Landlord, Painter And Jos North LG Councillor To Court Over Painting Of Office

The Plateau State Chapter of the Allied People Party (APM) has dragged one Yohana Loman Chollom , Kim and Councillor representing Jenta Apata of Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

The APM Deputy Chairman, Mr. Istisfanu Isa has dragged the council’s, the painter and the landlord before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Jos North LGA over the painting of APM office.

The defendant was docked on one count charge of trespassing public office , an offense that violates Section 94 / 223 Plateau State Penal Code Law.

However, when the count charge was read to the defendant by the clerk, he pleaded not guilty of the charge.

The complainants, in a direct civil complaint, alleged that the councillor representing Jenta Apata connived with the landlord’s sister to commit this offense on the 7th day of January 2025.

When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.

The complainants’ counsel, H.A. Shakmut, thereafter prayed the court for adjournment to enable him to prove the case against the defendant.

Then, thereafter, adjourned the matter until February 17th, 2025, for hearing.

Mr. Istisfanu Isa said why the party dragged them to court was due to an apartment located at Jenta Apata, which they rented as office.

However, the landlord’s sister took the laws into her hand to invite the councilor to come and sponsor the repainting of the edifice by cleaning up their party logo when their tenancy hasn’t expired.

He explained further that one of the members of APM was just passing through the office and sighted the painter busy painting the office with white pain covering their own logo color.

According to Isa, he stopped by to inquire from the painter who gave him the work and then the painter replied instantly that he was instructed to paint the whole building with white paint.

He disclosed that the party took action to report to Katako divisional headquarters when the police invited the painter to explain further at the station.

In the sense of urgency, the police invited the painter and the landlord for more investigation into the issue and the landlord confirmed to the security agency that he wasn’t aware of the person who gave him the work.

Istisfanu Isa noted that it was at that point that the painter now revealed that the councillor representing Jenta Apata gave him the work to paint the entire building .
