APC Uncovers Plots To Rig Plateau Guber Election, Seeks Removal Of REC By Yakubu Busari,Jos


Confusion looms in Plateau as the leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has called for the removal of the Residence Electoral Commissioner in charge of Plateau state, Dr. Godwin Kwanga for what it considered as compromising his credibility.
The Rec has been accused of working in concert with the Plateau state governor, Jonah Jang to Rig the Saturday governorship and house of Assembly elections in Plateau state and thereby throw the state into another anarchy and bloodshed.
Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Plateau Mr. Latep Dabang who made this allegation tuesday in Jos during a press conference where he also received LP stalwarts including Amb. Bagudu Hirse LP, and Mega Party Governorship Candidate, Elizabeth Yirse.
He said the continual silence of the REC on some sensitive issues affecting the election has been a source of concern.
According to him, “we have watched and listen with high sense of indignation the stubborn posture and the unscrupulous public pronouncements of the Plateau state government and his flagglant directives to voters to disregard the use of card Readers and resort to Temporary Voters card in the forth coming election.
The curious silence of INEC in the face of this coninous affront and blatant disregard for its laid down guidelines and regulations is a clear indication and confirmation of purported compromised of the Plateau REC. Godwin Kwanga.
“We have uncover a grand design aimed at using INEC and adhoc staff especially Youth Corpers to demobilze the card readers meant for the equipment for the elections in the event their plans to stop the use of the equipment as well as the PVCs fails.
He alleges that some desperate politicians in the state particularly, PDP supporters have resolved to engage the services of thugs to snatch ballot boxes and destroy card readers.
He said the use of “Operation RainBow” a Jonah Jang’s conceived Private secure outfit to convey electoral materials too and from is un acceptable, saying it is a design to frustrate other parties.
He therefore charge the commissioner of police in the state not to allow its name to be soiled, saying if the Police concede its statutory responsibility to unrecognise outfit, posterity will judge them.
INEC PRO Osarotin Imahiyereobo debunked romour been speculated that the REC had relocate his office to government house ,if he has done that you won’t be seeing his car park outside.he was in the office since Friday till date
.
He noted that the PVCs were issued out I don’t know why people kept emphasizing on three senatorial zone distribution ,the previously, we gave the update of the number of PVCs through out that period no cards has come ,I don’t think we need to strive on rumour .
Osarotin Imahiyereobo promised that the chairman is ready and be committed not to be distracted by any group.
According to him, if the Resident Electoral Commissioner has relocate the office to government House his property won’t be seen here ,as colleagues when we are doing our investigation should always be uprise clean and clear .
The PRO stressed that he remain committed toward deliver hitch free elections in Plateau state ,all we should do is to get settle and conduct the election.
