The Adamawa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned the assault on Comrade Salihu Mustapha, the National Vice Chairman (North-East) of the party, describing it as “barbaric and unacceptable.”
The incident occurred on June 15, 2025, during the APC North-East Consultative Forum meeting held in Gombe. According to the state party leadership, the attack was allegedly carried out by individuals posing as delegates who were smuggled into the venue.
Addressing journalists after a State Executive Committee meeting held in Yola, the Adamawa APC Chairman, Shuaibu Idris, expressed outrage over the incident and distanced the party from the violence.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the act of thuggery meted out against our son, Comrade Salihu Mustapha, by individuals who infiltrated the venue under false pretenses,” Idris said. “This shameful act has no bearing whatsoever on the objectives or proceedings of the Consultative Forum and should be disregarded by all well-meaning Nigerians.”
He emphasized that the Adamawa State Chapter of the APC fully aligns with the communiqué presented by Mustapha at the forum, which was adopted as the unified stance of APC governors, National Assembly members, the National Working Committee, and other party stakeholders from the region.
The communiqué notably endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
“We stand firmly behind the position articulated by our National Vice Chairman. It reflects the genuine consensus of the party’s leadership at all levels,” Idris affirmed.
The party further called for unity, discipline, and strategic focus as the APC continues to consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
