The Anglican Bishop of Yola communion Diocese, Rev. Markus Ibrahim Anfani, Urge the president- elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the federal republic of Nigeria to lead with the fear of God.
Ibrahim made the call on Sunday at the closing of the 2015 9th synod with the theme ‘serving God in challenging time’, held in Numan, Adamawa.
According to him, Buhari should not only be the leader of the APC but to all Nigerians.
He commended the president elect for his resilient and ideological consistency, adding that such had earned him victory at the last general election. He also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for providing a fair levelling ground for political participation as well as conceding defeat even before the conclusion of the collation of results.
He said that such had averted the anticipated electoral violence which would have caused a set back to the nation’s democracy.
The cleric called on the president-elect to urgently address the challenges of the victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East upon his assumption of office. He also called on the president-elect to reconstruct churches razed down by the terrorist to enable Christians worship in decent places.
Ibrahim said the Anglican mission had already embarked on an aggressive evangelism to the IDPs and other victims of the violence for spiritual rehabilitation.
He also said that the mission had concluded plans to visit all the affected communities for evangelical work as well as to provide some assistance to them.
According to him, we have already supported the IDPs in various ways. “We have provided some accommodation for some of the IDPs, we have visited their camps and supported them with relieve materials and also prayed for them.’’
Bishop Anfani encouraged Christians to endure and persevere so as the devil would not gain victory for making them backslide.
He encouraged all to be steadfast and prayerful, adding that such challenging times would come but those who would endure shall be rewarded.
Speaking, Rev. Foreman Nedison, guest preacher at the synod said the theme for the year was for the generality of the mankind. Nedison explained that the challenges facing the people of Adamawa were not peculiar to the area.
He added that some of the challenges were global in nature. He said terrorism had taken a global dimension such that most parts of the world were experiencing it in different forms.He however said that workers of the kingdom have being charge to work even in hard situations.
“We must work in situation of challenges as the scripture does not said that we will work in situations devoid of challenges.
“We do not have excuses for derail after all, we have being saved to serve others, therefore, whatever challenge we encounter, and we will overcome it because Jesus has overcome the challenges of the world.
Mrs Nneka Dunu, one of the delegates at the synod told newsmen that “this particular synod was the best because of its theme.
Dunu said that Christians in the state were faced with the challenge of worship as terrorist had displaced many from their homes. She added that the devastation situation could derail some Christians, urging the church to embark on aggressive evangelism to encourage the victims.
