Anambra Signs Another $10.8m 450 Houses Sight ‘N Services Estate

The Anambra State Government yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a housing estate developing and managing company, Rockland Development Ltd for the development of Baron’s Court Estate, in Awka.

The project worth ten million, eight hundred thousand dollars($10.8m) is to be funded by the state government which is expected to invest eight hundred and fifty thousand dollars($850,000)while the developer-Rockland Dev Ltd will bring $9.9m

Under the project, the developer will undertake the development of 450 plots at New Town Layout on the basis of sites and services which entails the planning of raw landspace and installation of basic infrastructure like roads, drainages, power, water among others.

Gov Obiano while signing the document on behalf of the state government explained that the numerous housing projects which his administration is undertaking in collaboration with private investors, is to reverse the negative trend where Ndi Anambra who work or have businesses in the state live in neighbouring states due to lack of housing facilities.

According to him, the project brings to seven, the total number of investments his administration has attracted in the area of real estate development; totaling about $900m.

He noted that the project was structured to create employment and Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) opportunities, said his government will avail it every necessary support to ensure that it is achieved on schedule.

 

The Managing Director of ANSIPPA, Chief Joe-Billy Ekwunife explained that the project which targets to promote urban development and modernization and provide affordable housing for Ndi Anambra, was designed in compliance with best practices in modern estate development.

 

The Chief Executive of the investing company, Chief Obi Eneh commended the Governor for recognizing the role housing plays in the development of any society, and thanked him for providing the opportunity for investors to come into the State and assured that they are committed to delivering a world-class housing project in the state.

 

In his vote of thanks, the Chairman, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Mr Mike Okonkwo said adopting the Sight and Services development model for the project, will ensure that the Development Control Manual of the Agency is complied with in its execution.
