Alleged Terrorism: Court Postpones Trial of Nnamdi Kanu Indefinitely

0

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the barred Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), had his trial postponed indefinitely by a Federal High Court (FHC) in Abuja on Monday.

Justice Binta Nyako, gave the order after Kanu and his counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, insisted that the trial judge no longer had jurisdiction to preside over the case following her earlier recusal.

Following an oral application by the defense and the handover of the case file to the chief judge, Justice Nyako reportedly recused herself from the trial of Kanu on September 24, 2024, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

However, the Chief Judge of FHC, Justice John Tsoho sent the Kanu’s case file back to Justice Nyako for adjudication, insisting that a formal application must be made by the defence before the recusal could be accepted. (NAN)
