Al-Makura Vs Awe Local Govt Chairman: Defense Counsel Queries Chief Judge Over Flimsy Adjournment

Counsel to the executive chairman of Awe Local Government, Chukwuma Ezenyi has told the high court sitting in Lafia that they would not tolerate flimsy and further adjournment by the chief Judge of the state, Justice Umar Suleiman Dikko.

Lawyer to the defendant, Aliyu Turaki, chairman of Awe Local Government and eleven others reacted over the series of adjournment the case passed through, He queried over the pace of the matter headed by the presiding Judge, The chief Judge of Nasarawa state.

Though Counsel to the Governor who is acting on behalf of the state Director public prosecution said the delay followed the advice they were waiting for from the DPP,The chief Judge however advised the prosecutor to bring the witnesses in the next adjourned date and adjourned the case to 12, 13 and 14 of April, 2016.

The Chief Judge of the State, Justice Dikko said the adjournment is to allow the prosecutor to present his witnesses on the next seating, The defendant, the chairman of Awe Local Government council , Alhaji Yusuf Turaki appeared in court with 11 suspected attackers of Gov. Al-makura in Awe Local Government.

Mobs suspected to be subservient to Turaki were apprehended for attacking the Governors chopper during a project inspection tour to the locality.

Though Counsel to the Governor who is acting on behalf of the state Director public prosecution said the delay followed the advice they were waiting for from the DPP, The judge Justice Dikko he however called on the prosecuors and advised them to bring the witnesses in the next adjourned date and adjourned the case to 12, 13 and 14 of April, 2016.

Some thugs in Awe assaulted Governor Umaru Al-Makura when he visited the area recently where the council boss and Eleven others were arrested and detained in Lafia prison custody.
