Al-Makura Bans VIO In Nasarawa

The Commissioner for Works and Transport has said the proscription of Vehicle Inspection Office, (VIO) by the state government was meant to bring sanity to the Vehicle Inspection Unit instead of the ongoing sharp practices.

Engr.Mohammed Yahaya Wada opined that the state government is losing chunk amount of revenue to the activities of erring officers.

He disclosed that the essence of the existence of V.I.O which was to ensure safety insurance amongst vehicle users has been thrown to the dogs instead they are out to make money for themselves.

Engr.Wada in addition stated that the replacement of V.I.O with the new Agency would enhance security and safety of vehicles on our roads, the Commissioner affirmed that the ministry is partnering relevant agencies like the Federal Road Safety Commission, the Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Scheme towards achieving good result.

“Some youth trained on road traffic under the Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Scheme would be engaged in the Inspection of vehicles,” said the Commissioner.
