Nasarawa state Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has said that the establishment of airport in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital will serve as an alternative for the users of airport in the Federal Capital Territory, The Governor stated this while declaring open the panel review meeting on the environmental impact Assessment Of The proposed Nasarawa state Airport project at Kwandare ,Lafia Local Government .
Al-Makura asserted that the airport project remain crucial and vital project to the citizenry of Nasarawa state ,He however opined that the project would go a long way in unbundling the north-central zone for economic prosperity.
He further said the proposed project if completed would create employment opportunity to the teeming youth in the state roaming the street, Other significance of the project according to Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura include the provision of social services.
The Governor also averred that the airport project would ameliorate the plight of indigents of the state embarking on pilgrimage to the holyland, Saying Christians and Muslims pilgrims from the state are at the vantage side to benefit from the project.
“pilgrims will no longer pass through stress before embarking on spiritual voyage to either Saudi Arabia or Jerusalem instead they will have a stress-free spiritual journey right away at their door step, He added.
“Unemployment will continue to have a multiplier effect on the economic development of the state, And with the proposed project our youth will be off the street”.
The paramount ruler of Lafia North Development Are,The Sangarin Shabu,Mahmud Umar Bwalla commended the state Governor for the sitting of the project in Kwandare community, He complained of noise pollution and plane crash as major huddles and preponderances of Kwandare people.
Also speaking the monarch of Kwandare,Ahmadu Al-Makura said the sitting of airport in Kwandare community will boost the economic potentials of the state especially in the importation of agro-allied projects as well improve the revenue-based of the state, The representatives of the two communities shower utmost support to the airport project.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s recommended that noise induce plan management should be introduce.
That accident potential zone, low density, land use restriction should be taken into cognizance in the establishment of airport.
