The former Air Marshal Jonah Wuyep has decried the challenges of  continued substantial dependence of the national economy on oil and gas in a very volatile sector threatened by oil theft and pipeline vandalism as well as insecurity induced by terrorism and communal clashes are key factors challenging Nigeria’s efforts in economic prosperity.
Addressing political big wigs on the problems facing  the political and economic sectors ,Wuyep urged them  to imbibe policies and strategies to deal effectively with the challenges so as to significantly grow the economy and ensure improvement.
These were the views of Air Marshall Jonah Wuyep who spoke at the weekend during the 2012/2013 1st Lowland Micro-Finance Bank Annual and Financial Reports held at Mabudi, Langtang South local government of Plateau State.
Air Marshall, a Plateau State gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Chairman of the Micro-Finance bank stressed there is intensive poverty and pervasive unemployment which must be systematically addressed to lift citizens above the poverty line.
He called on customers and shareholders in the Micro-Finance bank to continue to believe in the services provided to the rural dwellers and support the micro-finance bank assuring them of the commitment to positively impact their lives.
However, the Managing Director of the Micro-Finance bank, Mr. Amos Balami added that the organization had targeted the improvement of agricultural activities, trade/commerce, transportation, housing, education and health to improve the wellbeing of the people.
According to him, “The years 2012 and 2013 had been unfavourable considering the perennial Fulani disturbances in Langtang South and the more national boko haram menace but there were also achievements.
“Our customer base stands at over 7000 and our loans target agricultural activities, trade/commerce, transportation, construction/housing, education, health etc which have improve the economic and general wellbeing of our people.”

Balami encouraged the rural populace to embrace the rural banking through the Micro-Finance bank and increase their share-holding to enable the micro-finance bank commence branch expansion.
