Ahead Of Ikeduru Re-Run 2019:Youths Want Police To Intensify Security In The Area

The youths of Ikeduru LGA of Imo State numbering of 120 persons last Monday,18th March 2019 took protest to the Imo State Police Command Owerri,calling on the security agencies in the state to beef up security in the area ahead of the Saturday,March 23rd 2019 election re-run for the State House of Assembly contestants from across the political parties from the State Constituency.

The youths who were armed with various placards inscriptions dragged protest to the Office of the Police Commissioner,INEC and the Department of State Security Services all in Owerri,were they registered their grievances and compliants.

Their placards reads:” the bombers are terrorists,arrest Ifeco,Reps Isa Loquitor,Ikeduru House of Assembly result now, Ifeco boasts he has Police,Army,DSS in his pocket,Army and Police please provide Ikeduru bombers,Ikeduru is not safe if Ifeco remains free,Justice delayed is justice denied and hundred times re-run in Ikeduru State,Uchechukwu Ogbuagu ga eme”.

Speaking onbehalf of the protesting youths,the President of Ikeduru Youth Assembly,Hon.Comr.Sam Nwoke,expressed worry over what he described as unlawful act of possession of bomb explosive ( IED) right inside the collation center at Ikeduru during the last election polls.

The Youth President,Nwoke,while speaking alleged that some group of young men during the last election were arrested by the police for depositing bomb while the collation was still ongoing.

Meanwhile,the Imo Police Public Relation Officer,Chief Godwin Orlando Ikeokwu,said “the police have earlier arrested the 3 (three) persons suspected to be in possession of the bomb and they are cooling at the police net here in Imo State. They are in the police custody. committed,determined and we have assured you effective security during and after the said re-run according to the INEC. Remember that we as the Police offered effective security during the last general elections and we must intensify action”,PPRO assured.
