Aggrieved PDP Members Burnt Down PDP Secretariat In Kanke, Plateau State By Yakubu Busari,Jos
A group of youths suspected to be aggrieved supporters of People Democratic Party in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau state have gone wild as they burnt down the party secretariat in Kanke Local government area, as well as posters of President Goodluck Jonathan /Sambo and the State PDP Gubernatorial candidate GNS Pwajok.
It was like a dream and fiction on the first of January when worshipers were still observing in various churches marking the end of 2014 which both Muslims and Christians were still in the mood of the new year celebration .
An eyewitness account revealed that the security guard attached to the PDP secretariat was nowhere to be found at the time of the inferno.
Our correspondent gathered at the time of this report that three theories were being ascribe to the incident all linked it to Christmas bonus which the staff of state and local government including the party officials was yet to see following promises made to the members.
Information available to this medium shows that government and some party officials diverted the Xmas gifts which provoked the angers of others which might have resulted to the dastardly behavior.
The second reasons which was said to be as a result of fall out of the recent PDP primaries for the state House of Assembly and gubernatorial choice of the party candidate and his running mate.
President Goodluck Jonathan also was accused of letting the Plateau state governor imposed an unpopular candidate in the state.
In their cry to attract federal government sympathy toward substituting the gubernatorial candidate of the biggest party in Africa, the dastardly act was committed.
A source whose name is withheld disclosed that President Goodluck is planning to cause confusion in the state by sacrificing February’s polls for them to kill themselves.
The emergence of Hon. Jacobs Kasim who is reported to be the choice of the council Chairman didn’t go down well with other key stakeholders and as a result some desperate supporters resorted in committing this mischief.
The third point was that external forces might have been observing the isolated area the PDP secretariat is been located and might have cashed on it to make a statement that the Kanke people are not in support of their own son Arc Yilji Gomwalk who was appointed governorship running mate of PDP .
Commenting on the development ,the PDP governorship running mate Arc Yilji Gomwalk described the act as barbaric ,uncivilized and a condemnable act.
He urged the good people of Kanke Local Government to resist any criminal act that is capable of portraying them in a bad light.
According to him, the people of Kanke are known for their peaceful conduct during electioneering campaign so he said that they must not allowed to be used by agents of darkness.
Gomwalk further stressed that Kanke PDP is very a stronghold of the party as no amount of mischief and intimidation can deter the people to support the party.
He called on the supporters of the area to put this behind them and work for the success of PDP in the forthcoming general elections.
Also responding, the PDP central zonal coordinator Hon. Simon Tangni said that the PDP would still win squarely in Kanke and other parts of the central district and such people are sowing the seeds of hatred and acrimony, saying they should desist from their evil ways.
Tangni appealed to them to join the winning PDP trend in the ark of Noah in other to liberate themselves in GNS Pwajok-ARc Yilji Gomwalk government.
