Again, Osun Govt Suspends Gazetting of Consenting Authority for Olowu of Kuta

A few days after stopping Olu of Ile Ogbo over scheming for consenting authority over land belonging to Iwoland, the same fate has befallen the Olowu of Kuta as the state government has directed a stoppage of process for consenting authority for the Owu monarch.

Investigations by our reporter revealed that the stoppage of similar authority for Olu of Igbo exposed a secret letter already issued to the Olowu of Kuta which was awaiting gazeting for it to take effect.

The discovery of the abnormal letters of consenting authority was reported to have generated a direct governorship directive stopping the processing of any further similar letters or gazetting of any such authority from Iwoland.

Governor Ademola Adeleke was reported to have directed the chieftaincy ministry to put on hold any gazetting of consenting authority for Olu of Ile Ogbo, Olowu of Kuta and other Obas under Oluwo of Iwoland.

” It is almost a scandal as those villages listed in letters issued to Olowu of Kuta and Olu of Ile Ogbo belong to Iwo. If the Governor had not stopped the letters from being gazetted,  it would have generated harsh communal conflicts.

” The alleged consenting authority letters fly against the history of Iwoland where Oluwo in history actually gave all other bales and Obas lands on which they settled within Iwoland. To now issue such Obas consenting authority on villages belonging to Iwo was a serious abnormality. Worst still, the Ministry did not at any stage consult Oluwo in Council”, a source in the know of the matter told our correspondent.

Sources in Government circles disclosed that Governor Adeleke was not happy with the development as he sees it as a ploy to destroy the new relationship between him and the people of Iwoland.

While the PDP had won Iwo in recent elections,issues of consenting authority has raised eyebrows within the Governor’s camp of plots to create political and communal crisis to weaken the PDP/Adeleke’s hold across Iwoland.

” The Governor has placed the Ministry under close watch and has specifically suspended processing of any applications for consenting authority from Iwoland. Those letters already issued have become invalid as gazetting has been blocked on direct instruction of the Governor ”, the source confided in our correspondent.
