After Paying N1.5 Million For Tractors, We Are Yet To Be Given Tractors By Gov. Lalong, Plateau Farmers Cries Out
PLATEAU FARMERS CRIES OUT DEMANDING FOR THE WHEREABOUTS OF 400 TRACTORS COMMISSIONED BY BUHARI -Bashir Suleiman
It is over two months now since governor Simon Bako Lalong claimed he has purchased 400 tractors which was darkclauded and commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari. But since then, Plateau farmers who paid one million five hundred thousand naira (N1,500,000) to be given one tractor each were not yet received.
It is quite unfortunate that Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong invited President Buhari to have commissioned 400 tractors but up to now no any single farmer have received such tractors. For how long the governor continuing jeopardizing on the interest of Plateau people? Where are the 400 tractors the governor claimed to have been commissioned?
The raining season is here and farmers have not yet received their tractors in Plateau State. Bauchi State governor have distributed tractors commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari last week. What happened that farmers in Plateau State have not received their tractors even though they paid a looping sum of N1,500,000? With the economic challenges lingering, how can governor Lalong led administration collected N1,500,000 from farmers for over six months now and yet have not given the beneficiaries? For how long farmers continue waiting to collect such tractors or their monies?
It will be recall that the Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung alleged that Governor Lalong purchased 40 tractors and deceived President Buhari to have commissioned 400 tractors. The Minister allegations now evidence that Governor Lalong deceived Plateau masses. Why should the governor jeopardizing with the integrity of Plateau people? Why should the governor misled Mr. President to have commissioned invisible 400 tractors?
When contacted, Chairman of the Plateau farmers lamented for the prolonging delaying on the distribution of the tractors. “We have all paid for the tractors and the governor promised to give us tractors earlier before raining season but unfortunately up to now we have not received such”.
Sources have it that a brother to governor Lalong have been authorized to even share the 40 tractors to the governor’s family members.
