AFROVISION X 2026 Set For Month-Long Global Creative Festival In Canada, Nigeria Begins Activation

The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) will host AFROVISION X 2026, a month-long global festival celebrating African and Caribbean creativity, from June 1 to June 30, 2026. The landmark event, produced by Grandieu Inc., will take place across Toronto, Brampton and Mississauga, Canada, and will culminate in the prestigious AFROVISION X Awards Gala.

As international preparations intensify, Nigeria is set to officially commence its activation phase in January 2026, led by Nigerian partners, Inspiro Productions. The activation will focus on strategic mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, and partnerships ahead of the Canadian showcase.

AFROVISION X 2026 is a multidisciplinary cultural and economic platform spanning fashion, film, music, theatre, visual arts, and creative exchange. The festival is designed to position Africa’s creative economy prominently on the global stage, convening creatives, cultural institutions, governments, investors, brands and diaspora communities from Africa, the Caribbean and beyond.

Nigeria, widely recognised as a powerhouse of African creativity, is expected to play a leading role in the festival, which coincides with the global World Cup period, further amplifying its international reach.

According to organisers, Nigeria’s activation programme will include engagements with public and private sector stakeholders, sponsorship and partnership drives, mobilisation of creatives across multiple disciplines, a Lagos-based international press conference, and the release of official participation guidelines for designers, filmmakers, musicians, performers and exhibitors.

Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, Lead Convener of AFROVISION X 2026, David Bebiem, said the festival is committed to showcasing African and Caribbean creativity at world-class standards while recognising individuals and institutions driving the sector’s growth. On local coordination, Ayoola Sadare, CEO of Inspiro Productions, described AFROVISION X as a global marketplace for Nigerian creativity, adding that efforts are underway to ensure maximum participation and impact.

The festival will open on June 1, 2026, with a grand opening ceremony featuring an immersive “Journey Through Africa” cultural showcase, live music and dance performances, capsule fashion previews, film trailers, curated art displays, the premiere of the AFROVISION X Anthem, and a fireworks and light display.

Fashion Week will run from June 3 to 7, showcasing runway presentations by African and Caribbean designers, panel discussions on African fashion’s global influence, and a style marketplace. The Film Festival follows from June 9 to 14, spotlighting Nollywood, Caribbean and diaspora film premieres, documentaries, and industry roundtables.

Arts, theatre and performing arts activities will take centre stage from June 16 to 20, while World Music Week, scheduled for June 21 to 27, will feature Afrobeat, reggae, soca and fusion concerts, a Night of Legends tribute, industry masterclasses and a World Music Day parade through Toronto.

The festival will conclude on June 30, 2026, with the AFROVISION X Awards Gala, celebrating excellence across creative disciplines and recognising patrons, sponsors and supporters of the creative economy.

Beyond cultural celebration, organisers say AFROVISION X 2026 is positioned as a global creative marketplace and economic bridge, strengthening collaboration between Canada, Africa and the Caribbean in trade, tourism and the creative industries, with expected bilateral engagements and MOUs aimed at driving growth, job creation and youth empowerment.
