A group of Afukoh concerned Youth of  Izere Nation have vowed to continue demanding for welfare agitation as a host community that the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, management can’t recruit them into the junior, Senior cadre of employment of the Hospital.

Spokesman of the community, Comrade Azi Aware Peter during a press held at the arena of Gwafa  (Lamingo) Jos North LGA on Thursday said,”we converged here today to inform the world on the actions and inactions of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) towards our community”.

Aware explained that their parents donated 2000 hectares of land for the construction of the present permanent site of the hospital.  Upon completion, they moved from temporary to present site in 2007 which is 14 years now down the line and none of their children employed even as cleaners they rather constitute a nuisance for the community.

Since then, this hospital has never performed single corporate social responsibility to our community.  We have been appealing to them as a host community to interface with us so that we will have a common understanding and all our efforts has been approved abortive.

Recently, they employed over 300 hundred staff among these; no single individual was employed from our community.  We wrote series of letters to the management in that regard and issued seven days ultimatum, they disregarded us until we wrote to the police and the department of the State Security Services to give us cover as we will embark on peaceful protest at the hospital’s gate.

The security now prevailed on them before they wrote three letters and backed dated two of them, one was written in September so that they will claim they have been inviting us.

We will be meeting the management of the hospital today by 1:00 pm we want to state our positions clearly.  One the meeting should be presided by the Chief Medical Director.

Two they should give us our slots of employment.  Three That an M.O.U be entered between us.  Four a liaising committee is constituted.  Five they should fix their faulty sewage.

In conclusion, failure to meet our demands stated above, we will continue with our agitations in every peaceful and legal manner according to the confines of the laws of our country.

A request/demands of AFUKOH concerned youths as we meet JUTH management.

Introduction: We brings greetings to the entire management of this revered tertiary health institution, in Jesus name and in the name of struggle we have only five simple demands that are itemized in sequence and if implemented, will go a long way in fostering peace and cementing a robust relationship between us.

Employment.

We earlier wrote the management to stop the lopsided employment that was done in total violation of the Federal Character Commission and our demand here is that our employment letters be issued to us today in compliance with the Federal Character Commission. M.O.U.: To put all agitations into final rest, a Memorandum of Understanding be entered between the host community and the hospital and the two parties append their signatures on employment.

The liaising committee is constituted that will be relating with the community about the activities in the hospital.

Corporate Social responsibility: Since the returned of this hospital fourteen (14) years now, no single project is executed by the hospital to the host community.

Last but not least is for the hospital to fit her sewage that is very hazardous to our community.
