Abuja Chamber of Commerce And Industry Announces Winners of Its 2016 Excellence Awards

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced the winners of its 2016 Excellence Awards. The winners were announced yesterday at a Press Conference held in Abuja.

In his opening remarks, the chamber’s President, Mr. Tony Ejinkeonye said that the Chamber is made up of registered businesses and institutions in Abuja, he also added that the Chamber is a non-profit making and non-political organization that represents the common interests of the business community in Abuja.

Speaking further in his speech he said; “Mr. Tony Ejinkeonye maintained that the award ceremony which has the theme ‘promoting the spirit of Excellence’ is aimed at rewarding organizations who has contributed to the growth of the Nigerian economy and also to encourage other organizations to contribute effectively in growing the nation’s economy, he further urged the Press to support the Chamber in creating the most prestigious award for businesses in Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, the Chambers Deputy President, Barr. Jude Igwe in his speech gave a rundown of the processes that were followed to determine the performance of the winners of the award which include examining the company annual reports, company website, CBN annual reports, and other various publications. He also listed some metrics which were considered in selecting the winners of the award adding that these processes will be electronically displayed for each winner at the award night.

Announcing the winners of the awards, Barr. Jude Igwe stated that the five categories of awards were announced, the categories and the winner are as follows;

Investor of the year: Helios Investment Partner and the Vitol Group.

The most innovative business idea: Airtel Nigeria’s Recharge and Hit-A-Million Promo.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) : The Nigeria LNG Limited

Outstanding Company of the Year (Commerce): Olam Nigeria Limited.

Outstanding Company of the Year(industry): Dangote Cement

Furthermore in his speech, Barr. Jude Igwe stated that these awards will be presented to the winners at the excellence awards ceremony which will hold on the 24th of February, 2016.
