ABP Advocates For Electronic Voting System To End Rigging

Yakubu Busari

On the 21st anniversary celebration of democracy day in Plateau state, one of the APC stakeholders, former Candidate of the All Blending Party, ABP, Hon Izang Azi Nakowa has advocated for Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, ahead of the forthcoming general elections to make concrete arrangement towards repositioning our electoral system to capture electronic voting to end rigging.

Nakowa Azi who stated this in Jos while celebrating Democracy Day in Jos North LGA said the use of manual voting had affected the progress of Nigeria democracy where many voters don’t want to participate in any elections again.

According to him, many of our electorates feel that they are disenfranchised by the electoral umpire because their votes no longer count in Nigeria.

He said he was disappointed with the Chairman of Jos North LGA , Hon Bala Shehu action in the way and manner palliative measures are being shared to the residents of the council.

Azi added that most of the Christian settlements are not given adequate attention by the present caretaker committee chairman but advised that an improvement should be effected to address some of the lopsided areas.

He frowned at the use of Godfatherism by selfish politicians to achieve their so-called ambition, stressing that godfatherism has destroyed us all,  where credible candidates are not given an opportunity for them to win an election.

Azi warned elders to stop promoting ethnic politics in Plateau state especially in PDP, in the race for the position of chairmanship, we are watching with keen interest plot by the former Governor Jonah Jang to impose an unpopular candidate that will not help us move forward.

He maintained that federal, state government should urgently take advantage of the COVID -19 and ensure that electronic voting machines are introduced because the system had continued to produce unproductive politicians who lack political ideology.

Izang complained bitterly that since the demise of late Solomon Daushep Lar, the state hasn’t produced any strong politician or a credible leader that can stimulate the people of Middle belt, we are backward in politics now without any leader.

He disclosed that the APC government in Jos north didn’t give equal chance to the Christians in the palliatives given out.
