The leadership of the “Association of President Generals/Constituents of Owerri Federal Constituency, APOFEC,and the leadership of ” World Owerri Peoples Congress, WOPC”,was on last Monday, Dec.30th 2019,during a critical jointly stakeholders meeting/joint conference, held at the palatial home of an illustrious son of Azara Owalla Emekuku in Owerri North LGA,Imo State, Chief Comr.Joe Ajaero,collectively collapsed association-groups into a common front called “Izu-Owerri”.
Addressing members of APOFEC, WOPC and some notable social-political organizations in attendance,the Chairman of APOFEC,Hon.Chief Barr.Canice Madukaji (Igwekala Obulimba of Uratta) in Owerri North LGA, Imo State,expressed satisfaction to the successful resolution to have “Izu-Owerri”, as the only strong and formidable platform (a socio-cultural and socio-political organization) in Owerri Federal Constituency.
Barr.Madukaji,who spoke on behalf of APOFEC, and as the Chairman of the President Generals of all the entire 47 Autonomous Communities in the 3 LGA’s that made up Owerri Federal Constituency,(Owerri North, Owerri West and Owerri Municipal),congratulated all the sociocultural, sociopolitical and apolitical groups seeking the development, peace and unity of the people of “Owerri” for collapsing into one association known as “Izu-Owerri”, which is aimed and targeted at uplifting the plights of the Owerri people in politics, businesses, academics and lots more.
Chief Canice,who is the President General of Uratta Autonomous Community in Owerri North, disclosed that the major reason and essence of “Izu-Owerri” is to give Owerri people a strong voice in Imo State,to attract rapid development, peace,unity and build an indomitable grassroots,to enable scholarship schemes for the youths, to give positive directions to the young people,even as he called for all hands to be on deck and support the growth of the newly formed “Izu-Owerri Association”.
Adding her voice, the Chairman of WOPC, Mrs.Barbara Njemanze,lamented against what she described as lack of community support amongst some prominent individuals from across the 3 LGA’s on their inability to proffer solutions to the problems of the youths especially on the provision of effective scholarship schemes to the people.
Mrs.Njemanze,frowned at those claiming to be stakeholders when they have no single capacity empower any body in their own communities.
The WOPC Chairman, Mrs.Njemanze,further more, called for the establishment of a great union as a platform for effective collaboration as such would enable the funding of the scholarship schemes for Owerri Federal people.
“We are yarning for a platform, let’s put aside politics. We are not threats to any politician, the right things must be done. We are making the platform a grassroot one”,Njemanze noted.
The host,Chief Comr.Joe Ajaero, (Ohamadike) in his own contribution, hinted that he is always ready to assist the platform by all means.
“The problems of Owerri Federal remains their inability to produce leaders. Leaders are only produced through their political parties but until we (the masses) takes charge of the electoral processes,by electing those credible individuals with integrity into positions of authorities and powers, the youths will continue to remain unstable and unbalanced. Since we are talking about growth and development, we must shun politics aside and quest for economic power to change the govt. It is high time for us to strive positively on youths entrepreneurship,women development and empowerment programmes as our priority”, Comr.Ajaero advised.
In the same vain,the Royal Father of the day,HRH Eze Christian Amadi Nwamara,Ezeudo II of Azaraugo Emekuku,Owerri North LGA,Imo State,commended the resolutions for Izu-Owerri,and called for rapid development, peace and progress of Owerri Federal.
Amongst those who spoke in attendance includes:”Chief Johnny Obijuru,from Owerri North, Chief Ken Ekechi,of WOPC, Chief Ben Anaele,from Owerri North, Chief Anayo Ohakwe,from Ihiagwa in Owerri West, Rev.Emma Chukwu,from Umuanunu Obinze in Owerri West,and the President General of Ezi-Okele Ezi-Obodo in Owerri West, Chief Ifeanyi Nkwocha,Mrs.Ngozi Obi-Osuagwu,from Owerri North and Mrs.Assumpta Anebere,from Owerri Municipal, amongst some other prominent leaders from Owerri Federal too numerous to mention.
At the meeting,the stakeholders have collectively agreed on the dissolution of all the groups already existing for the course of Owerri to collapse into Izu-Owerri.
The collapsed groups are: WOPC, Mezie-Dozie Owerri,Mezie Owerri and Oganaihu Owerri,amongst others for the general interest of the Owerri Federal.
