9 People Injured As Fulani Herdsmen And Farmers Clash In Jigawa by Umar Faruq

Fulani herdsmen and Farmer today clashed in Giriyau villages in Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State.



Reports from the area indicated that the farmers were in their farms harvesting farm produce when the Fulani herdsmen trespassed into their farmland with herds of cows and
sheep to graze on their farm.



Efforts by the farmers to stop the animals and sent them out of their farmsangered the Fulanis, who violently retaliated by shooting at the
farmers with bows and arrows as they injured many farmers and ran away.



Speaking to our reporter on phone, council Chairman of Guri local government, Alhaji Haruna Dauda who confirmed the
incident, said about nine farmers were injured and that they have been taken to hospital for medical attention.



According to the council Chairman he said; “yes it was true that Fulani herdsmen attacked farmers in Giriyau village while farmers were harvesting
their farm products, the fulani’s attacked farmers with Bows and Arrows and ran away”.



Alhaji Haruna Dauda explained that; “The victims were taken to Kaddara Clinics, Hadejia General Hospital and Aminu Kano Teaching hospital for treatment.”


He added that; “the Arrows in the bodies of two of the victims was removed at Kaddara clinic and four other victims were taken to Hadejia general hospital where the arrows were removed while there were two others whose condition was more worse and they were referred to Aminu Kano Teaching hospital where the arrows will be removed and treated.



The council Chairman said “there was no loss of life as speculated, it was injuries and it is only two people including one that was hit in his head who were referred to Aminu Kano
Teaching hospital”.



The state Police command through the state’s command’s public relationofficer, DSP Abdu Jinjiri also confirmed the clash and as said “no arrest
has been made yet”.



According to the police command “some Fulani herdsmen attacked farmers while harvesting in their farms land at Kaddara village in Guri local
government area and injured six people, he also said there was no loss of life and no arrest has been made yet”.
