The Chief Medical Director of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Dr. Ikrama Hassan has revealed that a total of nine doctors have left the service of the hospital but not 59 as insinuated in some quarters.

The CMD gave the hint in an exclusive interview with Universal Reporters Online recently.

He confided that there was a replacement for those who left as a result of vacancy at the Federal level, which he said attracted more financial benefit than the State Government health facilities.

“The State Government is on top of the matter with the proactive measure taken to close the gap.

“Urging Journalists to always cross-check their facts before going to the press”.

An expert in the hospital who did not want his name in print said the only way to address the mass exodus of doctors is for the State Government to review her salary upward like the one obtainable at the federal level.

The State Commissioner of Health, Dr Gaza Gwamna in his reaction also confirmed that nine doctors from DASH have tabled their resignation from service.

Adding that the nine doctors that left have since been replaced, He, in addition, said the nine that left, Three went to the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi while six went to the Jos University Teaching Hospital for their residency.

Gwamna described the development as a temporary setback to State-owned health facilities.

“What do you expect from those going to the federal level, the federal level condition of service is far better than State-owned hospitals”.

Journalists, Farmers, and Engineers will move for better service, He said concerted efforts are put in place to proffer solutions to some lingering issues like the issue of promotion and hazard allowances.

The Commissioner further maintained that Nasarawa State has since commenced   100 percent, saying promotion has started in phases.

“We are not doing badly as it was portrayed, and I can assure you that by 2027 when we are exiting the seat, We will leave public hospitals in Nasarawa State as we find them”.
