8 Poly Students Confirmed Dead In Adamawa In October Mosque Blast

Adamawa-State-Polytechnic-300x3001Two weeks ago was a black day for the community of Adamawa State Polytechnic, where a bomb was detonated by a suicide bomber in a mosque situated in the school premises, following the update of the incident, yesterday the authority of the tertiary institution confirmed that a total of 8 students of the school died in the 24th October, Friday Mosque blast.

The blast took place during the opening ceremony of a Juma’at Mosque located at the School of Engineering of the institution in Jambutu.

The clarification was made through a Press Release signed by the information officer of the institution Albert B. Matilah and made available to newsmen Monday.

Matilah noted that so far, out of the 25 casualties of the bomb blast from the institution, only 4 students and 2 staff are currently on admission.

He noted that in the aftermath of the bomb blast, security around all campuses of the institution was beefed as thorough search is conducted on every one entering the school.

Matilah noted that as a result if the blast, the school authority has declared Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th October 2015 as a lecture free day in honor of the dead students just as it pledged to assists victims on admission in the specialist Hospital and Federal Medical Center, Yola in addition to free medical treatment by the institution’s Health Insurance Providers.

He urged the students to be security conscious while on campus and report any suspicious person or items.

The school authority also promised to identify and pay condolence visits on the families of the dead students.
