About 78 graduates have benefited from  interns, selected of  Federal Government’s Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS) of Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), have received training in Jos on how they could make the best of the scheme.
The training which took place at the Jos Business School in Rayfield also included executives or representatives of the firms in which they are to do the one-year job experience and empowerment scheme, for which reason it was an interactive training designed to achieve mutual benefits for the employers and interns.
Project Director of the Graduate Internship Scheme, Mr Peter Papka disclosed during the opening ceremony of the orientation training that SURE-P was established to provide critical infrastructure and safety nets for graduates, adding that the scheme was a deliberate attempt to create a critical bridge that would enable the Nigerian graduates cross easily from graduation to workplace.
He cautioned interns and their employers against abuse of the opportunity provided by the scheme, saying some bad eggs on both sides had at some times attempted to defraud the scheme through unethical practices.

He called the attention of the interns to what he called “new and interesting opportunities in Agriculture, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), power, construction, health, environment and sanitation as well as financial literacy” which he said the interns could exploit, adding that many interns were already taking advantage of such opportunities and contributing to the enhancement of manpower.
