Worried by the communal conflicts in Riyom and Barkin Ladi Federal constituency that led to the death of at least 3,000 people who were gruesomely killed including a serving Senator Gyang Dantong and a State House of Assembly Member representing Barkin Ladi ,Hon Gyang Fulani, the Member, representing Riyom ,/Barkin Ladi Federal constituency ,Hon Istifanus D.Gyang has decried the deplorable conditions of internally Displaced Persons (IDP) who are still living in various camp as worrisome.

Hon Gyang commended the National Commission for Refugees, migrants and IDPs for donating relief materials worth N46 million to 75 communities.

The member representing Riyom Barikin Ladi constituency said the essence of providing relief materials to the IDPs in the area was as a result years of the unrest that displaced people from their ancestral home in his constituency where people are still leaving in fear.

He stressed that the plan was in conjunction with the federal government and National Commission for Refugees, migrant (NCRM) and IDPs to bring succor to the displaced persons.

Hon Gyang disclosed, the occasion was aimed at bringing out ways to fashion out means of addressing the plight of displaced refugees and the gesture will transform the constituency to foster peace and unity with the localities in the state.

The lawmaker commended the people of his constituency for maintaining law and order toward achieving peace in their domain, adding that communities which were also affected by flood due to rainstorm were also given relief materials.

He expressed displeasure with the kind of high rate of terrorism and criminal operation with the territory of his constituency as he to appeal to federal government to restructure the damaged houses destroyed during the conflict period as normalcy has returned to the state.

In his good will message a member of plateau state house of assembly Hon.Daniel Dem stated that despite the duty of a lawmaker which is to make law, ID Gyang is doing a proper representation.

Hon Dem urged various communities to live in peace with one another and stop violence.

Dem however called on government to rescue these communities through reconciliation committee in order to bring development nearer to people.

Briefing journalists shortly after the event Hon.Dr.I.D Gyang noted that he is particular about his constituency as every other Nigerian citizen that is in a state of distress or state of displacement.

He added that when you see plight of people affected by displacement you may wish to be of help to that person because to represent people is a duty to take steps and address the plight which is second in the row that his office is tend in rendering help to.

He pointed out that the first gesture was carried out by engaging NEMA and the recent assistance is with the NCRM made available by the presidency that accede the request made by the legislator.

“We have from Barikin Ladi identified 40 communities that are to benefit from the material which from Riyom was 31.

“It is impossible to reach all the people at the same time so we just did in order to capture some of the communities and this is the second batch among the communities we will cover and we are reaching 75 communities,” he said.

The commission supplied commodities worth N46 Million from what the record reveals of assorted grains also as a lawmaker having 20 bills in 2 years thereby undertaken empowerment program through medical outreach Secured jobs to over 40 youths in the constituency.
