70 people with mental disorders in Maigatari local government were reunited with their families in Jigawa
The chairman of the council Alhaji Uzairu Nadabo, who confirmed the story said the council has reunited 70 homeless mentally disordered people with their families after being treated.
Nadabo, who made this known in an interview with our reporter saying that the council has spent over N1 million on logistics during the treatment of the victims in Kazaure Psychiatric hospital.
The chairman said the majority of them were picked on the street where they were sleeping due to a lack of proper identification.
According to him, some of them after being recovered identified who they are and thereafter reunited with their families.
He, however, announced plans by his administration to improve the standard of health service delivery in his locality for the wellbeing of his people.
Nadabo said that the council would this year redouble its spending on health in order to focus on equipping its health centers located in various communities.
The chairman also said he rehabilitated a significant number of schools, out of about 87 schools in the area that were not in good condition, adding that the learning environment was much better.
He also said that the council had spent N18 million on the expansion of rural electrification in a new area called Nasarawa within Maigatari township.
Nadabo said in addition to that also rehabilitated about 300 out of the 500 unserviceable boreholes in 15 communities that had been unused for two years.
The chairman recalled that when he took over only about 100 out of the 600 boreholes were serviceable when he took over but was able to fix at least 300 and made provision for maintenance.
According to him, the council is spending millions on monthly basis for the repairs and maintenance of the water facilities across the communities, saying the issue of water scarcity was over in Margarita and environs.
