65 Independence Day: Governor Fintiri Grants Pardon To Six Inmates In Adamawa

In celebration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has granted pardon to six inmates serving various prison terms across the state.

The governor’s decision, announced on October 1, follows the recommendation of the Adamawa State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy. According to a statement by Humwashi Wonosikou the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the inmates were granted clemency based on demonstrated good behavior and significant improvement in conduct while in custody.

“In the exercise of my prerogative of mercy as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and in line with the advice of the Advisory Council, I have approved the immediate release of six persons who have shown genuine reform during their incarceration,”

Governor Fintiri stated.He also directed relevant authorities to ensure the immediate implementation of the release order.The beneficiaries of the governor’s pardon include:Wamari Godwin – Medium Security Custodial Centre, MubiAbraham Marksunil – Medium Security Custodial Centre, MubiDavid Paul – Medium Security Custodial Centre, NumanIbrahim Adamu – Satellite Custodial Facility, MaihaUsman Inuwa – Medium Security Custodial Centre, Yola NewSani Yahaya – Satellite Custodial Facility, Ganye.

The gesture is part of ongoing efforts by the Fintiri administration to promote restorative justice and encourage rehabilitation among inmates in correctional facilities.Governor Fintiri’s Independence Day message emphasized peace, unity, and the importance of second chances, reaffirming his commitment to justice, equity, and compassion in governance.
